Uncle Dev & Aunt Aiko

My brother and his fiance, Aiko, came home for a visit. This visit was mainly because we were all celebrating their upcoming wedding with a bridal shower for Aiko. They both hadn't seen Harlow since her 1st birthday and haven't seen her walk or talk much. What a big difference a couple of months can make!
I have been practicing all summer with Harlow on saying their names. And she knew exactly who each of them was. She was a little shy at first, but eventually warmed up to them. We spent the weekend doing a lot of her favorite things so I think that helped :)

Playing with her books at Jiichan and Baachan's house.

Playing some music and doing some dancing.

Pretend cooking.

Running around outside, playing in the water and picking flowers.

Checking out Jiichan's garden.

Picking tomatoes.

A quick taste. turned out she didn't like them.

Exploring the backyard.

and surfing...

Picking flowers (as usual).

She loves the water.

Daddy pretending to throw her in.

More exploring the garden.

Picking bell peppers.

And of course, BUBBLES!

I'd say she had a great weekend of visiting with Aunt Aiko and Uncle Dev!

Walking the Dogs

This morning as I watched Harlow run around the kitchen island for the 100th time while pulling her toy puppy along behind her, I had an idea. Why not take a nice family walk with the dogs before it got too hot outside! Such a great idea, Harlow held on really tight to Gus Gus's (our 4lb. chihuahua) leash and was doing great until the sidewalk jumped out in front of her and down she went, without even letting go of the leash. She stood up and immediately had a purple welt on her nose. Through her tears she refused to be held and wanted down to hold the leash again. She cried the rest of the way home while holding Gus' leash. When we got home she let me sit on the couch and hold an ice pack on her nose. She seems to be doing fine and the battle wound just adds a little character to her pretty little face. It was bound to happen at some point, right?

She started off by holding on to Buddha's leash, but that didn't seem to be a good idea. (point proven since our 4 lb dog took her down, the 65 lb dog would have really done some damage).

watching Gus "water the plants"

Right before she went down.

You can't really tell how purple it is in these pictures but it's a nice shade of purple and a little swollen.
