She gave us quite a scare this past month. She suddenly had diarrhea for almost a week. Like she was going to the bathroom every hour or two. It was awful, and she got the worst diaper rash that required a prescription to get rid of it. Pete was working out of state and finally when I felt like it should have been getting better and wasn't, I rushed her to the Dr.'s. Her Dr. thought that maybe she had a stomach virus but given the fact that she has previous allergy issues he wanted to have her checked again. Just as I was about to leave, I changed her diaper and he asked to look at it to inspect what could be wrong. He then proceeded to tell me that the color of her stool worried him. He explained to me that her liver and gallbladder could be malfunctioning and would need to have blood work done to rule it out. Did I mention we were suppose to get on a plane and leave for Indiana the next day? So we made a mad dash to pick up a new formula, baby food (he recommended we try solids to decrease her formula intake since it could be upsetting her tummy) and schedule blood work to be done immediately. Oh, and we had to pick Daddy up from the airport too. And um, pack up our stuff that we would be taking with us to Indiana for 4 months. Thankfully her Dr. understood our situation and called us back the very next day to let us know all blood work returned back normal. Her diarrhea has continued but now it is just once a day, her normal poopy diaper of the day. So our next step is to get her checked for more allergies. She was on a specialized formula for allergy and intolerance's, we switched her to another formula but they have a lot of the same main ingredients. Our best guess is that there is something in the formula that is upsetting her but there aren't really any other options for formula. We have started her on baby foods but she is NOT loving it. She holds her mouth closed so tight, even if I do get her to smile when I'm trying to feed her she smiles with her mouth closed which she normally never does! Oh that girl!
She just might turn out to be our dare devil child. She loves to be tossed in the air and dipped backwards. She loves to be bounced and loves to hold on tight when I twirl her around. We always get a good laugh out of her when we do these things. (by the way, Harlow hated all of those... and kind of still does.)
She has started some baby foods. We have tried sweet potatoes and squash. Neither of these she likes. And I'm not even positive much gets down. She is a very messy eater. She is pretty good at dodging the spoon and holding her lips shut tight.
She now spends more time on her tummy than she does her back when she is awake. But she actually doesn't seem to enjoy being on her stomach for long. But if I roll her back over she immediately rolls back to her stomach.
She is aware of her toys, her sister and both of the dogs now. They all keep her entertained. Her feet finally touch the floor when she is in her jumper so now she can bounce herself around. She loves bath time with big sister. I have finally gotten the hang of bathing and dressing both of them at the same time. And thank the lord, she doesn't scream in her car seat anymore!
Next month will be bittersweet. 6 months will mark her life of being here with us for half a year. She changes every day, week, month and I can't wait to see what new and exciting things are in store for all of us with her in our lives. Lennox Mae, I love you more than chocolate and frosting and the two combined!
How sweet is this picture of the two of them together? I could stare at it all day!
