The Navy Pier in Chicago

This past weekend was busy, busy, busy! And we had so much fun! My parents came to Indiana to visit us.  Harlow was so excited to see them. Every night I would tell her how many days until they were coming and she would tell me each morning how many days until they arrived.  And lucky for us, it seemed they brought the California sunshine with them. It had been raining for weeks here in Indiana but we had our first sunny and hot day in a long time the day they arrived. Harlow, Lennox and myself spend a lot of time in our apartment so we made sure to take advantage of all the great weather.

Our first stop was to Chicago to visit the Navy Pier.  The Pier had a boardwalk kind of vibe to it.  It had a carousel, Ferris Wheel, arcade, restaurants, shops, indoor garden, movie theater and children's museum.  Of course Harlow wanted to ride the carousel and Lennox got to experience her first carousel ride too. By the time Harlow built up enough courage to ride the Ferris Wheel it was closed.  We checked out the children's museum which is always a hit with Harlow and Lennox got to take a nap.  We also had lunch at Bubba Gumps and I of course had to get a churro.

We had so much fun taking a day trip to Chicago and doing stuff like this makes it a little more worth it to move every summer for Pete's job. Well, at least a little more enjoyable.

A nice old man gave Pete an extra ticket for the carousel so he could take Lennox too. She loved it.

Check out the Chicago skyline in the background.

The indoor garden had water shooting from one pot to another.

I had no idea Chicago was so pretty!
