Best Friends & Laughs

The past couple of days have been worth looking back on (not because of the awesome stuff we're doing in Wenatchee, cause there's none of that) because Harlow seems to be growing up in nano seconds.

I'm thankful for these past months with her, that I've gotten to stay home with her while Pete works. I'm thankful that Pete works so hard so that I can do that. I think I'd be heartbroken if I missed some of these 'firsts' of hers.

Today I mentioned that she wouldn't let me cuddle her anymore whenever I wanted to, only when she wants to. I think she must have heard me because today she not only let me cuddle with her for a good 45 minutes but she fell asleep in my arms. So I sat and touched her cheeks, traced her lips and counted her toes and fingers. Because I wanted to make sure I got the chance to do so. She is so little and perfect and it still boggles my mind that I (we) made her.

Sorry i got all sentimental, anyway...

Today was a first for Gus Gus and Harlow. They finally really acknowledged each other. Gus sat very still (for the first time) while sitting next to Harlow and Harlow locked her little eyes on Gus and then reached out and patted her on the back a couple of times. So I pulled out the video camera (on my phone. Note to Santa Clause, I'd like a real one) and watched her play and pet Gus for the first time without me initiating it and Gus not running away. Best friends I'm sure. At least one day hopefully.

And then 5 minutes after I sent that video to Pete she goes and does another incredible thing. (I think she's incredible, can you tell?)

I started playing peek-a-boo with her using her favorite frog and she started laughing!!!! Who knew that little sound could be so sweet! In the past she has laughed in her sleep or laughed once and stopped surprised by herself but today she had the giggles! I could listen to that laugh all day. And I think it makes me even happier to know 'I' was the one to make her laugh! She must be smart, she knows I'm funny (hopefully she'll tell her dad and he'll agree).

Now if only she could get that 'ma ma' down. That would make my year!

A new voice

Oh no. We are in for it for sure now. Recently Harlow has discovered how to screech. Its funny when she does it while looking at herself in the mirror or when she is excited to see you. But I can just see in our near future her just doing it to do it.

PUUULEASE excuse my high pitched baby talk voice and the gross hotel room..

YouTube Video

I love that she surprised herself at how loud she can be.

Can you believe how big she has gotten?! I use to say she looked so tiny when Pete held her but she doesn't anymore.

Communicating with Harlow

I just realized that my baby doesn't really cry much. She only cries when she is scared or hurt.

But she does let us know when she needs something.

She grunts and growls.

We hear this when she is hungry, tired, bored, needs a diaper change or just to get our attention.

YouTube Video

It does get to be a little much sometimes but I guess it's better than having to hear screaming and crying all day.

I have full conversations with myself in my mind :)

I was just sitting here tonight minding my own business (not really, I was blog stalking babystepstomom.com) when I had quick fleeting thought cross my mind.

I was checking out her maternity pictures and her newborn baby pictures when it occurred to me...

I miss having a newborn.

And then my next thought...

I wouldn't mind having another.

*deafening silence plays through my mind*

Did I really just think that?!

After Harlow was born, if you had asked me when we would have another, I would have said in 12 years.

It has taken me 4 months to get to this point.

This point being that I didn't cringe at the thought of being pregnant, sick, and 30 pounds heavier again.

I was actually a little impressed with myself.

And then I mentally slapped myself and said, are you crazy?!

One is good for now. Two will have to wait.

This little girl is enough for now. How could I give her all the love I feel for her if she had to share it...? (at least for right now and for the next couple of years)

Baby Stalking

Love getting to spend my whole day with this little face.

I'm sure she wonders why I always have that camera in her face :)

Can you believe she is going to be 4 months old next week?

Time is going by so fast.

This little girl has such a sweet personality.

She wakes up smiling. Who does that?

She has even started smiling at strangers.

Everyone tells me she is beautiful and looks like a little doll. I agree (but I might be biased).

Tummy time.

Camp Kawaii

Had to put her in the Gwen Stephani clothes for babies especially because it has the japanese Harijuku Girls on it.

Camp Cute.

Smiling with her hands in her mouth. So talented.

Here she is talking to all of her toys.

Look at her little mouth. She is talking up a storm.

Worth the Money (things i'm lovin')

Obviously, first and foremost, I LOVE my baby girl. She is worth everything to me.

And then this, Starbucks' iced white mocha, helps get me through my day. A new mom needs all the extra "umph" she can get.

Ok, technically I haven't really even started these. BUT I have them. Now I just need the motivation (and time) to get off my butt and get it into gear. But I'm sure once I do, I'll love it :)

Harlow loves this book best, and so do I. We read this about 3 times a day! Its such a cute book.

And technically, this isn't my swing, and I didn't buy it. We borrowed my sister-in-laws. (Thank you Brianna!) Lately my little monster doesn't want me to hold her like a baby. So when she is tired and cranky, this little swing is a life saver.

This should be #1 on my list. This diaper changing caddy is awesome! AWESOME! Especially because we live in a 2 story house. So instead of running up and down the stairs to her changing table, I can have this down stairs. And since we are away from home this summer it has been nice to travel with too.

Oh yes! I put this up here! Love this too, life saver!

smashbox tinted moisturizer.

Benefit's erase paste. Makes me look like I have been sleeping haha.
If I can't be well rested, at least I can look it.

Smashbox foundation.

Benefit mascara - BadGal

Just purchased this off of Etsy. It's a Bumbo seat cover. I Noticed that when Harlow was hot and sticky she would stick to the bumbo, and that can't be too comfortable. So this is a quick (and cute) fix.

TIGI Bead Head Ego Boost leave in conditioner and split end mender. Done wonders for my hair.

Frenchi - stripped pocket T. I wear this with everything.

This is what I've been loving lately. There are a few things that I DON'T love as well.
1. bipolar weather (makes it incredibly hard to get dressed in the morning)
2. Living in a Hotel
3. This small town that has nothing entertaining in it.
4. and the fact that my internet works only when it wants to.

Hot & Cold Summer

This summer the weather has been a little bipolar. When we got to Washington it was cold wet and rainy every day we were here the first month. And then it was nice sunny and a high of 70 degrees and then for 3 days it was between 88-93 degrees. And then went right back to being cool. There are no AC units in Washington apartments so we just about died.

I must say, I could really be a professional packer. I packed up a whole apartment in under a day!

Yesterday we (I) packed up everything in the company apartment in Puyallup, Wa. We drove to Wenatchee, Wa which is about 3 hours from where we were. Because there is only 6 weeks left of the summer, the company got us hotel rooms instead of apartments. Oh joy! (please detect the sarcasm). We now have 2 dogs, a 3 month old baby and 2 grown ups living in one little room. It wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have so much stuff packed into it too! There was no where else to put all of our belongings. Because I'm
coming back to Fresno in about 2 weeks, I made sure to pack the things I HAD to have together and then everything I can do without is staying put in boxes and suitcases until I get back home.

In Wenatchee the weather is between 90-100+ degrees. Oh great!

This what Harlow did the whole time we packed up the Uhaul.

Harlow spent some tummy time sitting on my knees checking out a sideshow of pictures on my laptop and watching tv.

After bath time.

Hanging out.

This little girl of mine loves to see herself in the mirror. Hope the diva phase isn't already upon us. I'd like to wait until she's at least in high school!

I've been crafting away during nap time

Harlow's routine has settled into going down for a nap between 12 and 1 for a 2 to 3 hours. During this time I've been keeping myself busy. This is what I'm currently working on. Wish I knew how to sew so I could make matching burp cloths.

Wanted: one (or more) patient sewing teacher(s) willing to deal with a not so great student with a bad memory and little attention span.

any takers? I can pay in baked goods only.

the grey one is my favorite so far.
Still have 3 others in the works.
If you are interested in any of them, let me know.

She can ROLL OVER!

This past weekend my parents flew out to Washington to visit. It was nice having them here, I wish they could have stayed longer.

While they were here Harlow learned how to roll over from her stomach to her back. Now she does it like a pro all the time. A little sad that she's growing up but still so excited and proud of all the things she's learning.

Mother like Daughter

My poor baby girl, got my ugly toes curse. Her feet are an exact copy of mine.

Poor thing.

Don't worry, I got a pedicure this morning after looking at this picture.

Ewe.

2 year anniversary pictures... kind of...

Here we are at The Crab Pot in Seattle, Wa on our anniversary July 13, 2010. 2 years of marriage!

Our feast I was so excited for (but that was short lived)

Before the "storm"
she's even smiling... hmmm...

and then... a tired yawn...

Here he has no idea what is about to come...

And this is where the pictures end because our sweet tempered little girl had a massive meltdown which sent us home early with our feast in a doggy bag.
Wish I would have gotten a picture of her screaming because I can look back and laugh about it now. But not at the time.
